Kombucha

What is Kombucha?

Kombucha is a fermented tea originating from Asia over 2,000 years ago. It is revered for its ability to improve digestion, assist vital functions, and elicit feelings of well-being.   The symbiotic relationship between bacteria and yeasts in the kombucha has a balancing effect on our internal systems.

What Does Kombucha Taste Like?

The initial fermentation results in a slightly sweet, slightly sour drink with a flavor profile similar to apple cider vinegar. After adding a small amount of local and/or organic raw flavors, the resulting mixture is bottled and goes through an additional fermentation.

How is Kombucha Made?

In its purest form, kombucha is made from water, sugar, and tea. Counter Culture kombucha features triple-filtered water, local organic cane sugar, and organic black tea for added potency. Once the requisite culture of bacteria and yeast is added, the sweet tea ferments for 1-4 weeks depending on desired levels of sweetness/tartness. When the kombucha is ready, a bounty of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and other ingredients can be added to enhance the flavor and benefits of kombucha.
